From a training group in the Bow Valley to a National Development Training Centre — and now, a raffle that keeps it all running.
The Alberta World Cup Cross Country Society is founded in Canmore to organize coaching and racing opportunities for local Nordic skiers with World Cup ambitions.
The Alberta World Cup Academy is established as a National Development Training Centre, with bases in Canmore and Calgary, coaching 30+ high performance athletes.
A dedicated program is built for 18–21 year old athletes based out of Calgary, pairing daily training with academic study.
Canmore welcomes the FIS Para Cross-Country World Cup, bringing over 150 skiers from around the globe to the National Development Training Centre.
Under AGLC Licence #726554, the Society runs its first 50/50 raffle, selling over 2,100 tickets and putting $10,000 directly into athlete coaching.
Back by popular demand and moved fully online — a bigger pot, the same mission: fund the coaches who get our athletes to the start line.
“The Academy gave me a real training group and a real coach — something I couldn't build training on my own.”

“Every raffle ticket sold is coaching hours, wax, and race travel for an athlete who's putting in the work.”

“Hosting the FIS Para Cross-Country World Cup showed what this community can pull off together.”
